Hull City are in talks to sign Union Berlin forward Ilyas Ansah as the club looks to bolster their attacking ranks before next Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
City have identified the 21-year-old as a player with significant potential, and one they believe can ease the burden on Oli McBurnie, whilst also learning from the Tigers talisman.
Union Berlin value the striker in the region of £15m, and it’s thought discussions are ongoing between the two clubs as City look to strike a permanent deal in the next few day -, though losing him ahead of the Bundesliga kicking off this weekend would naturally come as a big blow to the German club. Amid ongoing talks over a potential move to East Yorkshire, Ansah played 90 minutes on Sunday as Union beat Eintracht Braunschweig 4-2 in the first round of the German Cup.

Ansah has five goals in 33 Bundesliga games for Union and is viewed by the club as a player with a bright future. He was on Ghana’s radar for the World Cup before he opted to take stock and assess his options.
The Berlin side brought Ansah from Paderborn last summer, after scoring six goals and clocking up seven assists in the Bundesliga 2, before a deal in the region of €4m (£3.4m) was agreed.
The youngster is a regular at Under-21 level with Germany, and qualifies for both countries, revealing he wanted to focus on the upcoming Under-21 European Championships next summer before deciding where his senior future lies. That was his reason for resisting the temptation to be called up to the Black Stars’ squad in North America.
Should City manage to get a deal done for the forward, who can play in a variety of positions across the attacking line, along with Mohamed Ali-Cho, then that would likely complete their attacking options for the Premier League campaign, at least until January.
While a loan move for another attack-minded player can’t be ruled out, Ali-Cho and Ansah would represent the two frontline attacking targets owner Acun Ilicali has recently referenced.
