Sergej Jakirovic believes Hull City’s terrific 2-0 win over Manchester United on Saturday can prove to be a huge catalyst in the transfer market.
City secured an impressive victory on the opening day of the Premier League season thanks to goals from Semi Ajayi and Nobel Mendy.
Three of City’s 11 summer signings started the contest, in Konstantinos Tzolakis, Mendy and Elliot Stroud, before Lucas Herrington and Matt Targett came off the bench in the second half.
The Tigers still hope to add more new faces before the transfer window closes on Tuesday, week at 11pm, and Jakirovic feels those players waiting to see how the opening weekend went before committing to moves to the MKM Stadium will now be desperate to sign for the club.
One of those rekindled over the past 24 hours is Nice winger Mohamed Ali-Cho, with the Tigers agreeing a deal worth in the region of an initial £11m, and though the club have pulled out of a deal for Real Betis winger Pablo Garcia, that could yet be rekindled in the remaining days of the window, if the La Liga club re-adjust their demands.

Last season, the likes of Toby Collyer and Lewis Koumas were hesitant about joining City under an embargo, and went to West Brom and Birmingham City respectively in the summer, before opting to join the Tigers’ promotion surge in January.
“They will come, one hundred per cent now,” Jakirovic told HullLive. “I don’t have any doubts. I was in a similar position last season. I tried to explain to some people that some players, they chose other clubs, and then they joined us in January, if you remember. They will come.”
With just over a week to go before the deadline next Tuesday night, City fans can expect a flurry of activity, and Jakirovic is adamant about one thing. “Two strikers, two wingers, one or two midfielders, and it depends now on the defence line, so it will be busy,” he added.
