‘It’s fantastic to support Naturewall achieve this ambitious phase of growth’
A Yorkshire business which has featured on Grand Designs and DIY SOS is set to expand after striking a seven-figure funding deal. Naturewall was launched in 2018 by Philip Brown and John Hallam, to help homeowners and commercial customers transform rooms with nature-inspired wall panels.
Its wooden wall panels are created at its workshops for use all over the house, including Victorian and Georgian styles panels, waterproof shower panels, acoustic panels to absorb sound and slatted panels. And the Beverley business, which also has a base in Leeds, has grown to become the largest SlatWall manufacturer in the UK, buoyed by a booming home improvement and interior decor industry.
Over the years its stunning wood panels have been used to spruce up everything from gyms and salons, to bathrooms and bedrooms, and its stylish panels have also starred on TV. The company has appeared on Channel 4’s Grand Designs, and on BBC‘s DIY SOS, which partnered with Naturewall to renovate the beloved Cherry Tree Community Centre (CTCC) in Beverley, which has acted as a hub for local people since 1993.
Now Naturewall, which has 43 employees across the two Yorkshire sites, has sealed a HSBC UK funding deal to increase its stockholding capacity. Bosses said the funding will help it boost future growth plans, by expanding and diversifying its panel range.

As part of its current growth strategy, the company has been able to expand retail partnerships across the UK, including an exclusive Made in Britain supply agreement with one of the UK’s largest national kitchen, bedroom and bathroom retailers. By boosting its capacity with help from HSBC UK funding, Naturewall bosses are anticipating a 30 per cent increase in turnover over the next 12 months.
Philip Brown, managing director of Naturewall, said: “Securing funding and increasing our working capital flexibility is an important milestone for the business. The steps we are taking today strengthen our ability to deliver new innovations in products, while scaling the availability of our products for customers and ensuring consistent standards of service.”
Becky Young, relationship manager at HSBC UK, added: “It’s fantastic to support Naturewall achieve this ambitious phase of growth. As the business expands its product portfolio and stock holding capabilities, it will continue to develop as a leading Made in Britain UK accredited manufacturer. We look forward to seeing how this funding supports the future success of the business in the UK and overseas.”
The HSBC UK funded acquisition was supported by an introduction from Chris Mangle, director at Custom Business Finance.
