Closures will be in place on sections of a major west Hull road over six weeks while repairs are made to its ‘deteriorating’ surface. The scheme on Pickering Road will focus on parts of the stretch between Boothferry Road and Anlaby Road.
The works will include reconstructing and resurfacing the road, repainting road markings and replacing gully covers. Hull City Council says the “vital” maintenance will ensure the road provides a safe, even surface for all users, with improved grip and skid resistance.
The work will began on Tuesday, September 1 and is expected to be completed by Monday, October 12, weather permitting. The scheme is being carried out in two phases. The first, between September 1 and 18, will focus on the road between numbers 35 and 45. The second, between September 21 and October 12, is from number 139 to outside Warner’s Health Club.
These sections of road will be closed during work. Access will be maintained for residents and to the gym car park. Bin collections will continue as normal where possible too.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure at Hull City Council, said: “These two sections of the carriageway are showing signs of deterioration, so it’s important that we carry out these essential repairs.
“This work will help futureproof our road network, improve safety for all users and maintain reliable access for residents, Peter Pan Park visitors and members of Peter Pan parkrun. We appreciate everyone’s patience while these essential improvements are delivered.”
The scheme will be carried out by PBS Construction Ltd on behalf of the council.
