84 new homes are being built on the Ings estate as part of the latest phase of the major regeneration programme

Lovell, a national partnership housing specialist, has broken ground on the latest phase of the major regeneration programme to deliver a new urban village at the Ings estate in east Hull. The new development, off Balham Avenue, will have 84 new homes for affordable rent and shared ownership, including two, three and four-bedroom houses.
The multi-million pound regeneration project, which will deliver more than 700 homes, forms part of a strategic long-term partnership between Lovell, Compendium Living, Hull City Council and Together Housing, with funding from Homes England and the UK Government’s Brownfield Land Release Fund. So far, the partnership has delivered 400 mixed-tenure homes at the Ings estate with a new neighbourhood park linking directly to the key community green space, Bluebell Fields, creating an attractive, modern community influenced by nearby Sutton and Garden Village.
Each Lovell home includes wall insulation, solar panels and EV charging as well as fixtures that reduce water usage. The development will have a central green space with seating, new trees and hedges as well as play areas and safe walking routes.
As part of the Lovell commitment to leaving a lasting legacy in the communities where they build, they have worked with Hull Training, local agency Construction Works and other employment services to provide employment and training opportunities. Lovell has also donated equipment and funds to several charities including homelessness charity Emmaus Hull, Autism Plus and the Ings community garden and residents’ association.

Cllr Paul Drake-Davis, the portfolio holder for regeneration and housing at Hull City Council said: “It is fantastic to see this new housing development start on site, to deliver 84 much needed affordable homes for the local community. The partnership between the council, Lovell and Together Housing represents a great opportunity for a high-quality affordable housing scheme to prevail – I’m excited to see the new homes when they are complete.”
