Andy Last has no doubt that Davy Litten will be ‘fully committed’ to the Hull FC cause against Castleford Tigers this Friday night.
The centre will join Wakefield Trinity on a four-year deal next season, with the West Yorkshire club paying Hull a six-figure fee to secure the signing.
Litten missed last week’s win at St Helens with a minor ankle injury but will return to the Hull side for the MKM Stadium clash, with Arthur Romano taking the other centre spot in the absences of Zak Hardaker and Tom Briscoe.
And Last is backing the player, who is FC’s top try scorer this year with 13 in all competitions, to continue to hit his stride for the final five games of the year.
“Davy has been a good servant for us and knowing the type of player that he is, he will be fully committed to the end of the season,” Last said. “He’s always been fully committed, he’s an enthusiastic character, and he’s a good player.
“He’s a big character; he has some down days as well as his up days. His up days are extremely high, and sometimes his down days can be a bit low, but he does bring a lot of energy to the group.
“I think that’s something which is quite evident when he plays; you can see that when he pulls on the shirt, he’s wholehearted. He celebrates wins. He is an energiser to the group.
“He plays with consistency, energy, and good intent. He’s someone who very much plays with his heart on his sleeve. He’s ready to go this week.”
And on his Wakefield move, with Litten handing a transfer request in, Last added: “I’m pleased for Davy. It’s going to be a good move for him, but I’m disappointed for us as a club.
“He is someone who has come through our system, but I think it’s an opportunity for Davy and a business club decision which works for both parties. Wakefield are happy with the player they have acquired and we’re comfortable with Davy accepting a deal with Wakefield. It’s amicable on both sides.”
