Daly Cherry-Evans has promised not to leave his future ‘hanging for too much longer’ amid sensational links to Hull FC.
Reports from Australia emerged on Wednesday morning that the Black and Whites were in ‘advanced discussions’ and the ‘frontrunner’ to sign the former Kangaroo half-back, who is currently playing at Sydney Roosters after 14 years at Manly Sea Eagles.
The 37-year-old, who turns 38 next year, has over 370 games of NRL experience to his name and starred for the Roosters in a two-try show as they defeated Penrith Panthers 12-6 on Thursday to top the NRL table.
Interim Hull head coach Andy Last refused to speculate on Cherry-Evans’ potential move to Hull when speaking to press on Wednesday, but equally didn’t rule it out, and the player has now followed suit when addressing Australian media after victory at CommBank Stadium.
“I’ve loved every minute of this season and the challenges,” Cherry-Evans said. “The club has accepted me and made it home. It’s been fantastic on so many fronts but there is still a job to do.
“That focus won’t waver to finish the year and the stuff in the future I’ll sort it out and talk to you guys about it another time. I won’t leave you hanging.”
Pushed further if Super League and Hull would be his next destination, the former Manly Sea Eagles half added: “Tonight was a hell of a game, so it’d be a shame to take away the focus of a game like that tonight.
“But I do promise you, and I don’t often promise you guys much, but I won’t leave you hanging for too much longer.”
