An aggressive woman who made chilling death threats to other women has been warned that she faces prison – and “long, miserable days in a cell” – unless she stops her violent and menacing antics. Jade Garner angrily threatened to kill the women and put them “in a grave” during a series of frightening incidents, Hull Crown Court heard.
Garner, 21, of Chamberlain Road, east Hull, admitted eight offences, including two of making threats to kill on September 1 last year, two offences of sending malicious messages threatening death or serious harm and two of assault on December 11 last year. She also admitted two offences of assault on May 5 this year.
Daisy Wrigley, prosecuting, said that the victims were all women who had contact and dealings with Garner. There were incidents in which Garner became aggressive and the police were alerted.
During one incident, she sent text messages saying: “I’m going to kill you all. I will put you in a grave. I am going to stab and punish you. You are all going to die.”
She grabbed a kitchen knife, walked towards a woman and pointed it towards her. The woman shouted at Garner. Another woman told Garner to throw the knife away. The police were called.
On another occasion, she wrote a note saying that she wanted to stab the people who were there and “put them in a grave”. She threw a bottle, narrowly missing one woman, before throwing another bottle, which hit her in the stomach.
She shouted: “F*** the police. I don’t give a f***.” She grabbed a woman’s ponytail and pulled it aggressively. She picked up items, including a TV remote control, and threw them at the women, narrowly missing them.
One of the women later said: “This whole incident has made me so upset.” On another occasion, Garner sharpened cutlery and shouted: “I hope you get stabbed.”
She warned two women: “I’m going to stab you both. I’m going to f***ing stab you.” She was later arrested. Garner had convictions for five previous offences, including four of assault and one of assaulting police.
Holly Thompson, mitigating, said: “Things seem to have settled down. She is disappointed in herself. She doesn’t want to go to prison. She is less volatile.”
Judge Richard Woolfall told Garner that the women did not deserve to be treated in the way that they had been, with threats being made against them. “You mustn’t behave in this way because, if you did, you would go to prison,” said Judge Woolfall.
“This really is your last chance. If you behave like this again, you will come back before the court and you will go to prison, so this is your last chance. It will be long, miserable days in a cell, often on your own.
“If you do this again, you will leave me with no option but to lock you up.”
Garner was given a one-year suspended prison sentence, 25 days’ rehabilitation and a probation service programme.
