Hull City are closing in on the capture of Olympiacos goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis in what would be a huge coup for the newly-promoted Tigers.
It’s understood City are on the cusp of agreeing a significant deal for the experienced 23-year-old, after a breakthrough in direct talks between Oly owner Evangelos Marinakis and Acun Ilicali.
City look set to beat off competition from Premier League rivals for Tzolakis, who it’s believed prefers a move to the MKM Stadium, and would sign a long-term contract in East Yorkshire.
Sources have indicated that a deal could be wrapped up in time for Tzolakis to link up with City’s squad that will be in Slovenia next week for the first leg of their pre-season training camp, before they head to Istanbul.

Striking a deal for Tzolakis would be a significant shot in the arm for City, given his experience of playing in the Champions League and Europa League for Greece’s biggest club.
Out of contract in Piraeus next summer, talks over a new deal at Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium have not progressed, and it’s now expected that a move to East Yorkshire will follow.
Elsewhere, City are closing in on the signing of two players currently operating in France’s Ligue 1, Hull Live understands, though the identity of the duo remains shrouded in secrecy to protect negotiations. Sources say they’re ‘firmly in the race’ along with a flurry of other clubs.
Despite reports in the European media linking City with moves for Stuttgart defender Josha Vagnoman, and Fenerbahce winger Anthony Musaba, neither player is of interest to the Tigers.
Oscar Zambrano, currently based in Slovenia with Maribor, is expected to link up with the Tigers when they arrive at the Play Green camp on Monday.
A deal for Elliot Stroud is set to be ratified over the weekend, after City agreed to a request to allow him to play in Mjällby’s game against Västerås on Friday evening, before sealing his £3m move to the Premier League Tigers.
