Several sports clubs have received more than £219,000 to upgrade their facilities.
In Hornsea, the local football, cricket, bowling and bowls clubs were awarded a total of £132,845. Meanwhile, Hessle Lawn Tennis Club and Hull Cycle Speedway Club received a total of £86,432.
The funding comes from East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s commuted sums, which are developer contributions set aside to support community improvement projects.
Councillor Nick Coultish said: “These projects will improve opportunities for local people to take part in sport and community activities, while helping clubs provide better facilities for their members and visitors.”

Hornsea Cricket Club was awarded £48,474 to install new all-weather cricket nets, replacing the existing “unsafe” nets
Hornsea Bowling Club was given £16,283 to undertake renovation works to the outdoor bowling green, making it more durable and reliable
Hornsea Promenade Bowls Club received £6,020 to refurbish its clubhouse, and convert an existing lean-to into a weatherproof storage area
Coultish added: “We’re pleased to support these organisations and look forward to seeing the benefits these improvements will bring.”
