Hull City will spend the weekend working behind the scenes in a bid to move players out of the MKM Stadium, as they look to keep within Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules, with progress being made.
The three-year reporting period ends on June 30, and City have found itself a little short despite winning promotion to the Premier League, which is worth more than £200m.
From July 1, the club expect to ramp up business when it comes to players coming in and is working on a host of multi-million-pound deals, but first must move players out in what some would perceive to be a strange quirk of the system.
The Tigers have a shortfall of around £6m to try and claw back to ensure they remain on the right side of the rules, and are not hit by any punishment, which could be a fine, or at worst, a points deduction.
Even a small point deduction would be a nightmare for any newly-promoted club, so bosses at the MKM Stadium are exhausting all possibilities.
Contrary to reports elsewhere, City are not able to extend its accounting period to next month, and therefore is working to the June 30 deadline, which falls on Tuesday.

Owner Acun Ilicali had warned at Christmas that the club would need to move players on this summer because of an overspend in the previous three seasons as the club tried to reach the promised land.
Spending significantly early on in that period, coupled with attendances, shirt sales and sponsorship income dropping last term, are also thought to have contributed to the situation.
The club remain confident that they will carry out the necessary business to ensure they’re on the right side of a system that changes from the new season.
Commercial revenue for the new Premier League campaign is set to surge, with discussions ongoing with a host of potential new partners keen to link up with the Tigers ahead of the new season.
