Hull City are monitoring the situation with Turkish goalkeeper Ersin Destanoğlu as they look to bolster their ranks ahead of the new Premier League season.
Destanoğlu is out of contract with Besiktas at the end of the month, and would be available on a free transfer, should he opt to leave the Istanbul giants and end a long association with the club.
The 25-year-old came through the ranks with the club whose stadium is on the banks of the iconic Bosphorus River, and played 32 times for the club last season, across the Super Lig, cup and European competitions. He’s also represented his country from Under-16s through to the Under-21s, but has not yet played a senior game for the national team.
An experienced goalkeeper, Destanoğlu has played 151 times for the Beşiktaş first team and could be set to leave if discussions over a new deal in the coming days do not lead to anything.
City have Destanoğlu as one of a number of potential new recruits in the goalkeeping department, as they look to beef up their ranks ahead of the MKM Stadium showdown with Manchester United on August 22.
Though Destanoğlu is a player of interest to the Tigers, it’s understood that no firm decision has yet been made and the club continue to explore alternative options to come and challenge Ivor Pandur for the number one jersey.
The Tigers remain keen to back Sergej Jakirovic with a host of new players, with the obvious desire to have new players in before the club returns to pre-season training in just over three weeks’ time.
Meanwhile, it has been claimed that the Tigers have had a £15m bid rejected for 21-year-old Brazilian striker Emersonn, who plies his trade in France with Toulouse. The youngster arrived in Ligue 1 last summer from Turkish outfit Goztepe in a deal believed to be worth around £2.8m. In 27 top-flight games, he netted six times and collected a brace of assists.
