Jack Brown has labelled Castleford Tigers as a ‘club on the up’ and could make his debut for his new team against Leigh Leopards on Friday night.
The 25-year-old prop forward has signed for Castleford with immediate effect, agreeing a two and a half year deal to keep him at Ryan Carr’s outfit until the end of the 2028 season.
And after featuring at Wembley for former club Hull KR last Saturday, Brown, a part of Rovers’ treble winning squad last season, has knuckled down at the Tigers in training in the early part of this week and could now make his first appearance against the Leopards.
Debuting for Hull FC in 2019, Brown has made 91 Super League appearances to date, with 76 of those coming for the Black and Whites. He moved to Hull KR midway through 2024 and after a two year stay in East Hull, is ready for a new challenge.
“I’m really pleased, obviously the opportunity to come here early came about and it’s one I jumped at,” Brown said on his move to Castleford. “I’m really excited to get started.
“The talks (with Chris Chester, Director of Rugby, and Carr, head coach) were all positive. I met them a while back and they sold me straight away.
“After meeting them, I knew it was the place I wanted to be in 2027. Then the chance to come early came about, and I jumped at it.”
Outlining what he can bring to the Castleford side, Brown continued: “I think I’m hardworking. I’m not the biggest middle, but I make up for that with my effort and my willingness to work hard.
“I like to think I’ve got a decent offload game and hopefully I can bring some energy to the team. I’m looking forward to running out here and making my home debut. It’s something I’m excited for. I can’t wait.
“I think it’s a club on the up. To be part of that journey will be something I’ll be looking to do. If I can do that, I’ll be buzzing with that.”
Meanwhile, Chester, who, along with Carr, has seen a big recruitment drive with Tyler Dupree and Phoenix Laulu-Togaga’e recently signing for Castleford, added: “We’re pleased to welcome Jack to the club.
“He is a player we’ve admired for some time, and we believe he has the character and ability to make a positive impact both on and off the field. We’re excited to see him in a Tigers shirt and look forward to working with him.”
