Sergej Jakirovic says Hull City will continue to dream as the curtain falls on the most incredible of seasons for the Tigers, who secured promotion to the Premier League.
Jakirovic masterminded the club’s sensational play-off win at Wembley on Saturday, beating Middlesbrough 1-0, and then the club celebrated on the streets of Hull on Monday.
More than 40,000 fans turned out to celebrate the club’s first promotion in a decade, and Jakirovic, in his first season in English football, took the adulation of his adoring public.
The boss, who has quickly earned legendary status for his achievements, is now back in Croatia, spending time with his family to unwind after a mammoth month, which is arguably the single best in the club’s long and proud history.

“Now that the emotions have settled, I would like to share a few words that are truly close to my heart,” he wrote on social media. “You all know very well the situation in which we arrived in East Yorkshire and the expectations that were placed upon us. We did not seek the spotlight nor the role of favourites in the fight for the Premier League, but from the very first day we breathed as one, and with every new victory our team spirit grew stronger. “As a coach, I have achieved great victories, but what happened at Wembley on Saturday, and yesterday during the parade through the streets of Hull, is something that will remain forever in the album of our memories. “During the final, on my left stood you, an army of supporters who pushed us forward from the very first round, and in the stands were my family and dear friends. It was beautiful to lift the trophy in such an atmosphere and bring the curtain down on this wonderful year. In closing, once again, I will not promise miracles, but I can assure you of one thing. We will continue to dare to dream!”
