The Tigers ace was hurt after a bad challenge in the first half at The Den

Wembley-bound Hull City will await the results of a scan on the ankle which forced Kyle Joseph off just before half-time in the Tigers’ famous 2-0 win at Millwall on Monday night.

Joseph was on the wrong end of a Thierno Ballo challenge, which saw the City star’s ankle buckle under the pressure of the Millwall winger.

After a lengthy spell of treatment, and Joseph’s agony obvious, the former Wigan Athletic man was helped off the field by City’s medical staff.

His replacement, Mo Belloumi, went on to play a leading role in the Tigers’ deserved semi-final success. Belloumi scored a delightful opener, before crossing for fellow substitute Joe Gelhardt to crash in the second and send City to Wembley for the play-off final later this month. It’s hoped Joseph’s injury will not be too serious, and that he will be able to feature at Wembley on May 23.

After a season ravaged by injury, City could, however, be handed a timely boost in time for their return to the capital next weekend with the news that a trio of players may yet return.

It was thought that Cody Drameh, Amir Hadziahmetovic and Toby Collyer had played their final games of the season, but all three are back in training and in line for a return. All three were at The Den on Monday night to see the Tigers claim a famous success.

Drameh had been suffering from a quad injury, while Collyer and Hadziahmetovic were both suffering from their respective ankle injuries. City hope the three players could return to full training on Monday, ahead of the game under the arch next Saturday afternoon.
