The NRL veteran has been linked with a move to Hull FC.

Cameron McInnes has been tipped to join the Super League competition next year after his move to new NRL franchise Perth Bears reportedly fell through – but any talk of Hull FC being in for the player has been dismissed.

The 32-year-old was linked with the Bears, who have signed Leeds Rhinos trio Harry Newman, James McDonnell, and Mikolaj Oledzki for next year amid a sequence of NRL-based talent.

The Bears are still to acquire their full top-30 squad, with McInnes, as per reports from Australia, believed to be in talks with the club. However, those talks have seemingly broken down, with the player now reported to be open and interested in a move to Super League.

McInnes is one of 120 or so NRL players out of contract at the end of the season. He is currently at Sydney-based Cronulla Sharks – just coming back from the second ACL injury of his career – but to date has no deal for 2026.

Super League clubs are well aware of that fact, with York Knights credited by Love Rugby League as one possible destination. The Knights have been reported to be in for McInnes, who has spent the latter part of his career in the loose-forward position after breaking through as a hooker.

Hull FC have also been reported by another outlet to be interested in the player. However, that is understood to be wide of the mark, with the Black and Whites targeting other areas to strengthen their squad for next year.

McInnes broke through in the NRL at South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2014. He moved to St George Illawarra Dragons ahead of the 2017 season and linked up with the Sharks in 2022. He has over 220 NRL games of experience in his locker, not to mention one State of Origin appearance for New South Wales.
