Hull KR take on Warrington Wolves in the Challenge Cup semi-finals on Sunday

Hull KR are gunning for their fifth trophy in 12 months but their hunger remains the same, says head coach Willie Peters.

The Robins take on Warrington Wolves at the Eco-Power Stadium on Sunday afternoon and they know that a win would take them to within touching distance of retaining the Challenge Cup crown they won last June.

That 2025 Cup win was KR’s first piece of major silverware since 1985, ending a 40-year drought that had started to loom large at Craven Park, particularly given the club had gone so close to breaking that duck in 2023 and 2024.

As such, the east Hull outfit were probably the hungriest team in the competition by the time they eventually got over the line and a glut of success has followed with the League Leaders’ Shield and Super League title following before February’s World Club Challenge win.

However, KR aren’t done winning just yet and Peters believes they still have that same desire to get their hands on silverware.

“I saw it today in training,” Peters said on the hunger within his squad.

“You don’t want your training sessions to be too far away from each other. That’s how you get the inconsistencies, but when you’re playing big games, you can see a different feel within the group, a different energy, and I certainly saw that today.

“I can only go by what I’m seeing and what the staff are seeing but I’m certainly seeing positive signs.”

Rovers head into Sunday’s contest against Warrington on the back of six straight wins in all competitions and with momentum building, they look to be the form team heading into the semi-finals.

“I’ve seen a level of consistency with our team now and I’ve seen that they’re a hungry team and I’m not saying they weren’t at the start of the year, but I can see they’re hungry again,” the Rovers boss added. “That opinion won’t change if we’re on the wrong end of the scoreboard, it’s always how you lose.

“But this week we’re not thinking about how we lose, it’s about how we’re going to win, that’s the important thing in do or die games.

“I’ll take a scrappy win any day of the week.”
