Veterans’ charity has paid tribute to Martin Chadburn

The East Yorkshire area veterans’ charity Hull 4 Heroes has paid tribute to one of its much-valued colleagues. The organisation said it was “devastated to announce the tragic loss of our amazing friend and colleague Martin Chadburn”.

With guidance from Martin’s family and Humberside Police, Hull 4 Heroes posted a statement on social media. Paul Matson, CEO of Hull 4 Heroes, said: “It is extremely difficult to put into words how profoundly shocked and saddened we are at the loss of our colleague and friend, Martin Chadburn.

“Martin – a veteran of nine years’ service – has been a part of Hull 4 Heroes since day one, first as a volunteer and then as an employee. To say he embodied the spirit and values of the charity is an understatement.

“Martin was the type of person who would drop everything to help anyone and during his time with Hull 4 Heroes, he made a real and positive difference to the lives of many veterans and former military personnel. He will be greatly missed by us all and we would like to offer our sincere condolences to his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.”

Paul asked that the police be allowed the time and space needed to conduct their investigations, following Martin’s death. The post has been met by hundreds of comments and messages of condolence.

Responding to the post, one person said: “Devastated to hear this news. Martin was a true hero—an exceptional veterans case worker and a real credit to your charity. He will be deeply missed; his humour and spirit lit up every room, and he always brought a smile to those around him.”

Another person said: “Beyond devastated at the loss of such a wonderful human, Martin you are one of the very best and the world is a poorer place without you in it.” One reply read: “Martin was a lovely bloke who made my dad feel so welcome whenever he went into HFH. Sending condolences to his family, friends and everyone in HFH.”

Among the responses was one that said: “Rest easy my friend your service is done and you will not be forgotten RIP.” A further comment was: “So sorry to hear this. My thoughts go out to his family and friends. And also to the Hull4Heroes family, sleep tight Martin, you’ve earned your wings.”

A comment by Humber Wellbeing Hub said: “We are so deeply sorry to hear this devastating news. Our thoughts are with Martin’s family, friends, and everyone at Hull4Heroes at this incredibly difficult time.

“If anyone in the community is struggling or affected by this, please know you are not alone. We are here at Humber Wellbeing Hub to offer support, a listening ear, and a safe space for anyone who needs it.”
