‘Times are hard for a lot of people at the moment, and we really care about our customers’
An Indian restaurant in Beverley has created a way for the community to cheer up people who deserve it by putting their name down for a free gift. Mowgli Street Food in North Bar Within is spreading positivity and kindness by inviting the community to come together to nominate friends, neighbours or colleagues who deserve a little lift to brighten their week.
The initiative, called Mowgli Magic, will see the restaurant give out experiences or treats to people across the Beverley area who are most in need of a boost. It might be a loved one who has recently had a tough time, or someone who always puts others first and deserves some extra kindness.
At a time when many people across the UK are facing challenges, this initiative aims to spread some kindness and positivity to those who need it. Locals are encouraged to share their stories, and each week over the next month, Mowgli Beverley will select one local nominee to receive a personalised gift.
The gesture is designed to bring light and happiness to someone’s week. The nationwide initiative – which is headed up by Mowgli’s founder, Nisha Katona MBE – is about recognising the strength of the people around us, celebrating community spirit and encouraging moments of light when they’re needed most.
Matthew Bean, General Manager at Mowgli Beverley, said: “Mowgli has always been about enriching the lives of the communities around us, and Mowgli Magic is born from that. Times are hard for a lot of people at the moment, and we really care about our customers.

“My team and I are hoping we can make someone’s day a bit brighter by doing something special for someone who needs a bit of kindness.” Beverlely residents can submit nominations via the Mowgli Magic webpage, sharing the story of someone they feel deserves this special gift, and each week for the next month, Mowgli will reach out to the deserved recipients.
Founded in 2014 by barrister-turned-restaurateur Nisha Katona MBE, Mowgli Street Food was born to show the world how Indians eat at home and on their streets. Mowgli is known for its fresh, vibrant dishes, served in glowing interiors adorned with fairy lights, and its iconic swing seating.
