Liam Knight has shared a farewell message to Hull FC after his exit from the club at the end of last month. The Black and Whites agreed to mutually release the prop forward on compassionate grounds, with the 31-year-old bringing an end to an 11-month stay in East Yorkshire.
Knight, who arrived at Hull in March 2025, signed a one-year extension for the 2026 season after a strong first year in Super League. However, he first spoke to the club about the possibility of an early exit around Christmas time and agreed to a release after Hull’s round three fixture against York Knights, with head coach John Cartwright citing homesickness as a reason behind the player’s exit.
Of course, Knight joined the club as a free agent last year. He made a total of 22 appearances, with his 2025 season ending prematurely due to a stress fracture in his ankle. The player was fully fit again for the start of 2026 and will now look to earn a deal Down Under upon his return to Australia.
“Thank you to @hullfcofficial for the last year,” Knight wrote on his Instagram page. “It was a privilege to be a part of this great club. Thank you to all of the fans who made my time in England so memorable. I wish the club and everyone involved the very best for the 2026 season. Thanks for the memories.”
Knight has played for South Sydney Rabbitohs, Manly Sea Eagles, Canberra Raiders, and Canterbury Bulldogs in the NRL, totalling 105 appearances. He remains a free agent.
