24 homes could be built in the East Riding village

Plans for a new housing development in an East Riding village have been submitted to East Riding Council. The application comes after the council approved outline plans for the site.

If plans are approved, 24 homes would be built on land to the South of Highfield Road in Bubwith. The village sits North of the former RAF Breighton.

In October 2024, East Riding Council approved an outline application for a housing development on the site. At the time the plans sought permission for 26 homes.

The plans have now been submitted as a ‘Reserved Matters’ application meaning the finer details surrounding the site’s layout, scale, and appearance will be decided.

Plans describe a “distinctive, high quality residential development” of 24 homes. The development will be split between two and four bedroom houses. The landscaping of the site will also be discussed.

House types would range between detached, semi-detached, and terraced houses. Each house would have solar panels on the roof and air source heat pumps.

Plans explain the village is an ideal place for a housing development due to it being “strategically located to the North-East of Selby.” The village’s highway connection to the cities of Hull, Leeds, and York is also mentioned in the plans.

Within the village itself, plans explain the houses would be within a 15 minute walk of three educational sites, including the Bubwith Community Primary School, which is a nine minute walk from the site. The houses would also be just 150 metres from the Bubwith Surgery.
