February in the courts saw some lengthy prison sentences imposed – including one of 23 years given to a sex offender nicknamed “Gentle Jeff”. Other sentences of 14 years, eight years and six years were also handed out to sex offenders, who all fought and lost trials.

Other criminals jailed include a driver who caused a couple in another car serious injuries in a horrific crash and a normally placid man who “completely lost it” after his nightmare neighbour repeatedly played loud music. Other cases featured a violent thug who brutally beat up a man in an unprovoked attack and a bully who warned a woman: “Trust me, you are dying today”.

A troublemaker who threw suspected bleach in another man’s face and the latest Hull rioter to be sentenced were also jailed during February. These are some of the cases that were featured from Hull Crown Court and, in the case of the rioter, Grimsby Crown Court, during the month.
