Rovers’ season had a worrying start before kick-off in York

There has been positive news on Dean Hadley, after the influential forward was a late withdrawal in the lead up to the Super League opener against York Knights.

The 33-year-old had been named to start in the front-row for the Robins at the LNER Community Stadium, alongside Sauaso Sue.

However, he withdrew during the side’s warm up and went straight down the tunnel in a worrying sight ahead of the World Club Challenge – and the Las Vegas showcase event against Leeds Rhinos later this month.

However, it has been reported that Hadley’s withdrawal was more precautionary than anything else – suffering with a slight rib niggle, and head coach Willie Peters opting not to risk his experienced forward.

Meanwhile, livewire hooker Jez Litten has passed his head injury assessment. The England international was forced off after just the second tackle of the match, coming off second best after a big collision.

He was replaced by Karl Lawton, with the overseas recruit making his Super League debut from the interchange bench. However, Litten passed his assessment and has since returned to the action in good news ahead of the World Club Challenge.
