The latest transfer news from the MKM Stadium
David Akintola could yet leave Hull City in the next few days after being left out of the club’s 25-man squad for the remaining weeks of the season.
City had to submit their updated squad by the close of play last Thursday, February 5, with 23 players included in their squad list, and the summer signing was omitted.
The Nigerian winger has not been included in the past three matchday squads by Sergej Jakirovic amid interest in him from potential suitors wanting to snap him up.
Akintola turned down two moves back to the Turkish Super Lig last week, and with the transfer window now closed in Turkey, he won’t be going there.
Prior to his move to England in the summer, Akintola had interest from Saudi Arabia, though he turned that down to come to East Yorkshire, but that’s not an option either because their window closed last week.
There are other avenues with the likes of Slovenia and Croatia still open for a few days, should the winger look to move abroad to play regular football in the remaining weeks of the season. Tigers owner Acun Ilicali owns Maribor, and a move there could see him get the regular action he craves.
His opportunities would be increasingly limited at City, following the arrivals of Lewis Koumas and Kieran Dowell, while the Tigers retain a hope that Mo Belloumi could return in the final month of the campaign.
