The Robins came from a goal down to win at the MKM Stadium

Gerhard Struber couldn’t hide his delight after seeing his Bristol City outfit respond to last week’s 5-0 drubbing by claiming a 3-2 success at in-form Hull City.

The Robins came from a goal down after Oli McBurnie put the hosts a goal up with Rob Atkinson and Ross McCrorie making it 2-1 before half-time.

Emil Riis made it 3-1 early in the second half only for Kieran Dowell to bring the Tigers back into the game with 12 minutes left.

After a lengthy stoppage for a visit from the resident MKM Stadium squirrel, Struber’s side safely managed 10 minutes of added time to complete the league double over the Tigers and move to within a point of the top six.

“I’m really happy with the win here, but also with how we did it. We worked so hard, and it was teamwork on a really high level,” the Austrian said.

“After the defeat against Derby, this was a great time to show a reaction with a good performance – and also the chance for momentum. I think we had good energy and preparation. It was not a surprise to see us bounce back.”

“Hull have high-quality players and are really in good form. But we found a different behaviour how to play – we pressed higher and were really good in transition.

“We were clear and sharp in what we did, and we were ready for the points. The boys were great. With our character, and what we have in the dressing room, it’s a very warm feeling. I think we have a good balance and are clear in how we want to do things.

“The table is (only) interesting in the end (of the season), but we should focus on our performance – week to week and game by game.”
