Extra motivation for Hull KR’s World Club Challenge opponents.
Brisbane Broncos have been handed extra motivation ahead of their World Club Challenge showdown with Hull KR, with club captain Adam Reynolds confirming that 2026 will be the final season of his illustrious career.
The legendary half-back is set to call time at the end of the 2026 NRL season, bringing to a close a 15-year professional career in Australia.
Reynolds, who will turn 36 in July, made his NRL debut with the South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2012, winning a premiership before later helping Brisbane end a 19-year drought last October with an epic Grand Final victory over the Melbourne Storm.
He joined the Broncos in 2022 and was immediately appointed captain, going on to make 78 appearances to date.
The former New South Wales representative has been named in Michael Maguire’s star-studded 20-man squad to face Hull KR at the MKM Stadium on February 19, alongside the likes of Reece Walsh, Kotoni Staggs, Patrick Carrigan, Ben Hunt and Payne Haas.
Reynolds previously won the World Club Challenge with the Rabbitohs in 2015, defeating St Helens 38-0 at the newly-named BrewDog Stadium.
Reflecting on his retirement decision, Reynolds said: “I love this club – it has given me a lot.
“They took a punt on me a few years ago and all I’ve tried to do is make the place better. It’s been a great journey. I’ve had so many great moments, memories and friendships along the way.
“I’d like to elevate the squad and the standards of this club to help it reach even greater heights.”
Meanwhile, 2026 is also set to mark the final year for powerhouse prop Haas at the Broncos, with South Sydney Rabbitohs set to pull off one of the game’s biggest recruitment coups. The Samoan superstar recently informed the club of his decision, linked with a three-year deal under Wayne Bennett.
