Everything you need to know about the new Humber Bridge Toll System that is going live this weekend
- The Humber Bridge toll booths and original HumberTag website have now closed.
- All vehicles crossing the bridge are now being directed through the designated HumberTag lanes.
- Toll prices have now increased to the new levels. For users without an account, they are now £2 for cars, £5 for larger 2-axle vehicles such as passenger mini buses, coaches and agricultural vehicles, and £15 for 3+ axle vehicles over 7.5 tonnes. The charges for those with an account are discounted at £1.50, £4 and £12 respectively. Crossings remain free for motorcycles.
- Throughout Saturday and Sunday, the bridge team is migrating all existing customer data and account balances over to the new tolling system.
- If you have a HumberTag account with sufficient funds, your crossings this weekend will be tracked and deducted automatically once the system is live. If you don’t have an account, you can’t pay immediately – instead, you’ll need to settle up starting Monday, February 2 when the new system is up and running.
- While the new system officially switches on Monday morning, any weekend travellers must ensure their tolls are paid by midnight on Tuesday, February 3, to avoid an extra admin fee.
- After this, anyone crossing the bridge without a top-up account that automatically deducts fees must pay by the end of the following day either online, by calling 01482 235500 or at a PayPoint location. So, if you crossed on a Monday, you would have until midnight at the start of Wednesday to pay.
- Administration charges for late payment will rise from £15 to £25 “due to the increased cost of recovering unpaid tolls”.
