Thousands of people flock to the Walton Street fairground
The first Saturday night of Hull Fair 2025 has been described as “insane”. A fine, dry and comparatively warm evening saw fairgoers milling around the Walton Street rides, stalls and sideshows in their thousands, even before sunset.
A post on the official Hull Fair Facebook page on Saturday said: “Proving when Hull does it, it does it right! It’s not Europe’s Largest for no reason.
“Hull Fair has been insane tonight, one of the best nights we ever had when we’ve spoken to the Showmen on our rounds tonight. As we wrap up our first weekend, remember that the fair will be closed Sunday 12th and we will be welcoming back all you fairgoers on Monday.”
The post received lots of comments, with one person saying: “Hull do it best.” Another said: “Absolutely rammed tonight.”
One response read: “Glad we went in the day time … look at all the people.” A further comment said: “It’s a great fair and the layout is brilliant. However, imo Nottingham was better as they had a better variety of rides.”

The post sparked this comment from one happy fairgoer: “Me and my family had a great day, well done Hull Fair.” Another said: “The people are what make it.”
The excitement of the fair was mixed with joy at Hull Kingston Rovers’ victory over Wigan Warriors in the Super League Grand Final. The red and whites won 24-6 last night.
One Hull Fair and Robins fan said: “Hull the place to be!! Hull and proud!! Never dull in Hull. Up the Robins.”
Another commented: “You’re right, Hull does it Best. Sunday belongs to Hull Kingston Rovers, the Robins are coming Home.”
Some of the replies were not so positive with one saying: “You lot must have money burning a hole in yr pockets. It’s well expensive. Been every year but not this year.”
One said: “Ain’t better than Goose Fair”. But one visitor wrapped up their thoughts in this comment: “The country is depressed. Oasis and Hull Fair have saved people this year and brought some happiness back.”
Hull Fair continues from Monday to Saturday, October 13 to 18 and Hull Live will be bringing you all the latest updates about it.
