After crossing the Humber Bridge, Bushby is expected to arrive in the city centre at about 11:00 GMT.
The former paratrooper will be invited to join Coward on a stage in front of City Hall. A brief private reception will follow.
Bushby will then set off on the final few miles of his journey to the city’s Sutton estate, where he will be welcomed by his mother Angela.
Coward added: “We all [take] pride in his incredible achievement.
“We also know what it’s like to come home to Hull – that feeling as your car or train, or feet in Karl’s case, crosses or goes under the Humber Bridge and over the city boundary.
“As the world’s media and documentary crews gather in our city, we can show them how proud we are of Karl’s achievement and how proud we are to be from Hull.”
