Hull KR’s title defence is over following a 35-12 defeat to Warrington Wolves at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Here are our player ratings.
Arthur Mourgue – 6: The full-back set up a try-of-the-season contender, breaking from deep inside his own half before finding Burgess in support to hit back 8-0 down. He was among Hull KR’s best in a disappointing evening.
Tom Davies – N/A. The winger was forced off inside the opening minutes and did not return.
Peta Hiku – 2: After Emre Guler was sent off for striking Owen Trout with a closed fist in the first play-off, Hiku was shown the same fate after an incident with George Williams that left his side playing with 12 men for 39 minutes of the second half.
Oliver Gildart – 4: Hull KR didn’t have the ball in good territory enough for the outside-backs.
Joe Burgess – 3: A mixed night for the winger, who marked his final game for the club. He was unable to deal with a dangerous grubber kick from George Williams under his own sticks which led to the opening try, with Ben Currie pouncing. He was later denied a try by Josh Thewlis and Albert Hopoate, while he did finish the break from team-mate Mourgue.
Mikey Lewis – 4: Struggled to have an impact in the game, marking just his second back from suspension.
Tyrone May – 4: He set up Hadley’s try in the second half to give Rovers some hope, before it was quickly ended. It wasn’t a big night for Rovers’ half-backs.
Sauaso Sue – 5: A 19 minute opening stint, which included a lot of defending with Warrington applying the pressure.
Jez Litten – 4: Warrington did a good job to keep the livewire hooker quiet across the 80 minutes.
Dean Hadley – 6: Won his side their first – and a much-needed – penalty after Matty Ashton’s disallowed try. His spirited performance included a try, and can be proud of his efforts.
Jai Whitbread – 4: Named in the back-row over Rhyse Martin. Couldn’t hold on to Ashton after a James Bentley interception, which all but sealed the victory for Warrington.
James Batchelor – 4: His usual work-hard self, but Hull KR were dominated from early on.
Elliot Minchella – 4: A crucial one-on-one tackle on Ben Currie 15 minutes from half-time, and won a couple of challenges. However, he suffered an injury and only returned 10 minutes from the end.
Tom Amone – 4: A decent shift in the middle, but Warrington defended strongly.
Jack Broadbent – 5: Was quickly introduced from the interchange bench for Davies, and did his job on the wing.
Sam Luckley – 4: Again, Warrington did a good job on Hull KR’s usually-strong pack.
Kawl Lawton – 4: Introduced after 25 minutes, and produced a try-saving tackle on Josh Thewlis after 47 minutes.
