The Tigers are unbeaten so far after four Premier League games
Former Brentford and Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank has praised the work of Hull City boss Sergej Jakirovic in ensuring City have arrived in the Premier League as a fully formed threat.
The ex-Spurs boss has been impressed with the Tigers’ start to the Premier League season, with City lying third after four games with two wins and two draws from their matches so far. It could have been even better with City unlucky to not pick up all three points on Saturday after a terrific display at Stamford Bridge where they came from a goal down to lead through two Mo Belloumi strikes.
It was the manner of City’s defensive resolve which has impressed Frank so far this campaign, but after see the Tigers carve open numerous chances against Chelsea, Frank has also spoken about how impressive it is the top-flight newcomers are showing they are hard to handle both in and out of possession.
“I am very impressed, I must admit,” said Frank. “Sergej Jakirovioc and his whole organisation have done a top job.
“They had the dream start with a win against Manchester United. Jakirovioc has done very well in focussing on what I think is very important and that is you have to defend well. But it is not black and white, it is not that you only have to defend well or you can only attack, you do both.
“You come up and are facing better opponents, so you have to make sure you do that part exceptionally well and you could see (against Chelsea) they are a threat in different situations and in creating chances. Fantastic, very well done.”
