Mikey Lewis has served his time – and now the Hull KR maverick half-back has the perfect chance to make amends.

The 25-year-old was hit with a two-match ban for dangerous contact against Warrington Wolves last month – a match that marked his return from a four-game suspension for headbutting against the same opposition.

But head coach Willie Peters has remained consistent with his message: lead by your actions.

Now Lewis has the chance to do exactly that.

The playmaker is set to return against St Helens in the final round of the regular season, with the Robins already having secured their play-off position.

A strong comeback would provide a major shot in the arm for Rovers ahead of their play-off eliminator, with Lewis desperate to hit his best form immediately.

He has still managed 17 tries – eighth in the competition leaderboard – and 14 assists this season despite a turbulent campaign.

And his ultimate redemption would be helping Hull KR rediscover the form that carried them to glory at Old Trafford last year.

Warrington, Wakefield or Leigh await in the first knockout stage, before potential trips to either Wigan or Leeds.

It is a huge challenge and a tough ask – but one Lewis will embrace alongside his rested team-mates.

Many of Rovers’ established first-team stars returned in the 36-6 victory over Huddersfield Giants which secured their place in the top six.

Jez Litten looked rejuvenated after his break, crossing for a try in the Round 26 victory alongside captain Elliot Minchella.

Arthur Mourgue also provided a spark in the halves, with the French international set to return to full-back and re-establish his partnership with Lewis and Tyrone May.

For Lewis, though, the outcome is simple: actions over words, redemption on the biggest stage and a return to the level that helped make Hull KR unbeatable champions.
