Mouzakitis made the move from Olympiacos on deadline day

Christos Mouzakitis already has the experience and strength of character to deal with the Premier League after making the deadline day switch to Hull City.

That’s according to Sergej Jakirovic, who welcomed the 19-year-old to the club as his 18th and final signing of the summer window, with the Greece international’s addition being confirmed 45 minutes after the deadline had passed.

Mouzakitis is a signing that caught many off guard, but he’s one that arrives with relatively big expectations after being labelled a ‘Golden Boy’ by chairman Acun Ilicali, who also claimed his signing was a gift to Tigers fans.

That tag stems from the Golden Boy Web award, Mouzakitis won last year, a fan voted prize that aims to recognise the best young talents in Europe.

The teenager has been a regular in the Olympiacos line-up since making his debut for the club in 2024. He has made 78 appearances for the Greek giants and that includes three outings this season, of which two came in Champions League qualifying.

During his time at the club, he has helped Olympiacos to a league and cup titles, with three goals and seven assists coming along the way as he feels his way into senior football.

With all of the above in mind, Jakirovic is hopeful that Mouzakitis will be able to adapt quickly to English football in order to demonstrate his full talent and potential.

“He’s a very good young player,” Jakirovic said. “He already has experience and it’s not easy to play for Olympiacos, where there is a lot of stress and expectation.

“He has great potential. We will try to develop him and improve him, we have the space to improve him and I hope he will adapt as soon as possible to English football.

“There is great potential so we will see how he can develop but we are here to help him.”
