The Tigers have had to submit a 25-man squad to the Premier League

Sergej Jakirovic has named his 25-man Hull City squad for the Premier League with five players missing out.

Jakirovic was always going to have a job on his hands to condense his squad down enough in order to adhere to Premier League rules and six deadline day signings made that job even harder.

The signings of Robinio Vaz and Christos Mouzakitis in the final moments of the window help, with the pair being young enough not to be registered. City don’t have to register summer recruits Lucas Herrington or Jens Hjerto-Dahl either given they are both under 21.

However, the Tigers are still working with a large squad and five members of Jakirovic’s current group haven’t made the cut.

Interestingly, Abdus Omur has been named in the squad despite the attacking midfielder having interest from Türkiye. Omur has spent the last season and a half away from the club on loan, but his registration would suggest Jakirovic is keen for him to stick around.

Kieran Dowell has been left out though after struggling to assert himself at the club since joining from Rangers in January. Dowell was offered to Championship clubs late in the window but a domestic switch couldn’t be found for the midfielder.

David Akintola isn’t included, which in truth was to be expected, while new signing Oscar Zambrano hasn’t made the cut either, with the Ecuadorian outside the 25.

Darko Gyabi and Eliot Matazo have also been left out, but the pair are currently out injured, with Matazo in particular set to miss a huge chunk of the season.

Speaking at his press conference on Thursday afternoon, Jakirovic outlined that the club would do everything in their power to find a move for those who were left out of his group with a number of transfer windows still open across Europe.

However, if those moves cannot be found, those left out will be sidelined until January at least when the market opens up again.
