A Bridlington holidaymaker is toasting an unforgettable 40th anniversary year after scooping a life-changing £250,000 National Bingo Game jackpot. Stephen Clarke, 67, from Greater Manchester, was enjoying a break with his wife Dawn this month when the couple decided to spend an evening at Regal Bingo Bridlington.
A bingo enthusiast of more than 20 years, Stephen was playing the game when every one of his numbers came up, securing him the top prize. The victory came as an enormous shock, with fellow players bursting into cheers and applause as Stephen realised what he had achieved.
He said: “We love coming to the club when visiting the area. I could not believe I had won the jackpot. Everyone started cheering and clapping – the crowd here are so welcoming.
“We are still in shock and haven’t decided how to spend the money, but we will be treating our family. We also plan to go on a cruise, as it is our 40th anniversary this year.”
Stephen and Dawn, who have two grown-up sons and a two-month-old granddaughter, say they regularly visit Regal Bingo whenever they are in the area and are already making plans to return later this year. Stephen became the second visiting holidaymaker to claim a National Bingo Game jackpot at the Bridlington club within just two years. Nikki Henshall, director at Regal Bingo Bridlington, said: “We are absolutely delighted for Stephen and Dawn. We can’t believe this is the second holidaymaker in two years to win the National Bingo Game jackpot.
“Just two years ago, regular visitor Sharon won £50,000 here, so it certainly is a lucky place to visit, whether you’re local, day-tripping or on holiday. The atmosphere in the club was amazing, and our regular customers were absolutely delighted for Stephen and Dawn. It was fantastic to see everyone celebrating together.”
Nikki added: “The National Bingo Game is played every afternoon and evening, with the chance to win £250,000 twice a day, as well as the £50,000 jackpot prize.”
