A new Facebook page will help reunite lost dogs with their owners. The page is being launched by East Riding Council and councillors hope it will make it easier and quicker to reunite beloved pets with their owners.
The new page will have posts that contain photographs of lost dogs as well any relevant details. Residents are being encouraged to get in touch if they have lost a dog.
Councillor Lyn Healing, East Riding of Yorkshire Council Cabinet Member for Communities and Public Protection, explained she was proud of the new page and was determined to make it much easier for local residents to look for lost dogs.
She said: “This is a great new resource, and we hope it will help to more easily reunite dogs with their owners. We encourage interested residents to follow the page on Facebook for updates.” East Riding Council have made clear that proof of ownership is required in order to retrieve any dogs in the council’s possession.

The authority’s website makes clear that in a public place or on a highway, dogs must wear a collar with a tag or badge attached, with the name and address of the owner inscribed on it. The website also states that it is an offence to not have your dog micro-chipped, and you must make sure your contact details are kept up-to-date.
