Hull FC suffered an injury scare in victory at Catalans.
Hull FC will monitor James Bell after the loose-forward did it tough against Catalans Dragons in Perpignan.
Bell stayed down and received treatment, eventually getting his knee strapped up, after a heavy challenge from Catalans that was placed on report. It looked like a possible hip drop, but nothing was given, and Hull, who had used all their interchanges, had to battle on.
Bell did just that. The Kiwi was outstanding in Perpignan and certainly played his part in the 27-26 victory on Saturday night. But as for the challenge, Hull were fearing the worst after two previous injuries this season, and the player will be checked over fully as the side land back in England this Sunday afternoon and undergo their recovery process ahead of Saturday’s game against Warrington Wolves.
“It’s way to early to assess,” Last said. “There’s some bumps and bruises in there.”
On the challenge on Bell, Last continued: “It was a disappointing one. We had used all of our subs and he gets a hip drop tackle put on him. It gets put on report and the normal process, if it’s foul play, is that you get a free interchange. We could have put someone else on, but we had to keep him out there strapped up. There’s no common sense sometimes.”
Hull were also without Will Pryce (ACL), Zak Hardaker (knee), John Asiata (hamstring), Cade Cust (shoulder), Yusuf Aydin (knee), Connor Bailey (collarbone), Brad Fash (knee), Will Kirby (ACL), and Joe Ward (ACL) in Perpignan, with Hardaker and Bailey seemingly having a chance of returning to the fold next week. Cust will also be assessed after missing the game with a shoulder issue.
