Two Super League players have been suspended following this morning’s Match Review Panel disciplinary verdict.
Wakefield Trinity look set to be without a number of players at Wigan Warriors on Friday night due to injury and they will also be without Jazz Tevaga. That’s because Tevaga has been handed a one match ban for his actions in the loss to St Helens on Saturday night.
His Grade A late contact on passer charge wouldn’t ordinarily result in a suspension but his previous has taken him over the cusp for a one-match penalty notice with the forward collecting 6.25 points this season.
Leigh Leopards forward Jack Hughes has also been suspended by the disciplinary panel and his circumstances are very similar to Tevaga’s.
Hughes has been handed a Grade A late contact on passer charge which carries one point, but because of his history, he now has six penalty points in the last 12 months which, of course, results in a one-match ban. He’ll miss Friday night’s game against Bradford Bulls as a result.
The most serious charge this week was handed to Andrew Badrock following his hip drop tackle on Harry Newman. He was sinbinned for the challenge at Headingley and while he has been given a Grade C dangerous contact charge, he has escaped a ban.
Edwin Ipape has been given two late contact in passer charges, too.
Ben Garcia, Ata Hingano, Nene Macdonald and Caleb Hamlin-Uele have also been charged this week.
