KR ‘owe Warrington one’ after last month’s defeat at the Halliwell Jones Stadium

Hull KR approach Tuesday night’s rearranged Super League fixture with Warrington Wolves knowing that they ‘owe them one’.
That’s according to Sam Luckley, who will be hoping to be involved once more after impressing in his first start since April 2024 on Thursday night against Catalans Dragons.
The Robins were in a tough spot a month ago when they were thumped 34-12 by Warrington at the Halliwell Jones Stadium with Warrington handing them their third defeat in four games. That’s a run that saw the club’s hopes of defending their League Leaders’ Shield dealt a fatal blow and they even dropped out of the play-offs in the aftermath of that loss in Cheshire.
To their credit, Rovers have responded with four straight victories and they know that a win over the Wolves on Tuesday would be enough to take them up to third in the Super League table.
That will be the chief motivation for Willie Peters’ side then but Luckley admits KR feel like they need to set the record straight against Warrington, too.
“Probably, in terms of fix ups,” Luckley said when asked if the loss at Warrington last month will be looked at before Tuesday. “It’s always in the back of your mind that you owe them one and revenge is always nice. We’ll be looking to right a few wrongs.”
On what’s needed from KR following the victory over Catalans on Thursday, Luckley added: “Not massive improvement. I think there was some good stuff there, especially in that first 20, but it’s just being consistent through the full game.”
As mentioned above, Luckley was given the nod to play an extended role against the Dragons, starting the game and playing big minutes compared to what can be considered his usual brief off the bench.
“Whatever my role is in this team I’ll do it,” he added. “We don’t really think of it too much like that, I’ll do whatever is needed for the team so I don’t mind whether it’s bench or starting. I think it’s the same the rest of the lads. It is what it is.”
