Former Hull FC man Liam Knight has found a new club down under after leaving the Black and Whites earlier this year.
Knight spent a year with Hull FC and of the 22 appearances he made for the club, three came at the start of this season.
However, his final outing for the East Yorkshire outfit came in February, with the prop being released from his contract to return down under and hunt fresh opportunities. The decision was made with Knight understood to be homesick, particularly given his partner remained in Australia while he was in the UK.
Knight kept himself ticking over in Australia while playing for the Cessnock Goannas, but he has landed himself a more high profile opportunity after linking up with North Sydney Bears.
The Bears beat Western Suburbs Magpies 48-16 on Sunday with Knight making his debut for the club off the bench.
Knight played 33 minutes for the New South Wales Cup side and made 69 metres from eight carries as the Bears racked up a big win.
It’s the highest level Knight has played at since leaving Hull and it might even prove to be a stepping stone towards a NRL return with the Bears being an affiliate of Perth Bears from next season.
North Sydney don’t currently have an NRL affiliation but should he catch the eye, the chance to supplement Perth’s first-team squad next year might not be beyond the realms of possibility.
Knight has bags of NRL experience having represented Manly Sea Eagles, Canberra Raiders, South Sydney Rabbitohs and Canterbury Bulldogs before the move to Hull came about.
