The BBC Look North presenter raised more than £500 for Children In Need with his last lot of collected crockery

A giveaway of mugs sent in to Peter Levy was so successful that the BBC Look North presenter is heading out again with his car boot loaded up with more donated crockery. Last December, Peter was a hit visitor to the Walton Street market and car boot in Hull with boxes of mugs that he “traded” for donations for Children In Need.
The popular news anchor has continued to invite mugs into his studio, donated by clubs, societies and charities, with the chance of them getting a guest appearance during his evening bulletin. Peter has been saving them all up and has now put out a post about his next Children In Need giveaway.
On a video recording on X, Peter said: “These are some of the mugs that I’ve collected on the TV, that have been on the TV, over the last six months. We’re gonna get rid of them all for Children In Need.
“Come along to the Hemswell Cliff car boot sale on Sunday morning, the 9th of August, from 7.15 in the morning. We’ll be there.
“Come along, say hello, have a selfie, have a mug, make a donation if you want for Children in Need. You don’t have to, but come along either way.
“I hope you can make it along. I look forward to seeing you there.”
Hemswell Sunday market and car boot is one of the largest of its kind in the wider region. it is located at Hemswell Cliff, off the A15 in northern Lincolnshire.
At his last giveaway, Peter asked for any donations in return for mugs to be placed in a BBC Children In Need bucket – and ended up collecting more than £500 from the enterprise. Crowds had gathered from first thing to take their pick of the mugs and Peter chatted to his “customers”, had selfies, and at least one kiss from a fan.
One of his followers brought him some Christmas cake, saying she knew he did not like mince pies; another bought him a festive bobble hat to wear, from a stall at Walton Street.
