An East Yorkshire tradition is set to celebrate its 15th anniversary this summer. Friends of Burton Constable will host the Last Night of the Proms on Friday 21st August 2026 for the 15th year. What began as a fundraising concert has grown into a popular summer event, attracting audiences from across Yorkshire and beyond. For 15 years, supporters have gathered with their flags to enjoy an evening of music, community spirit and celebration, all while helping to support the future of the historic house.
To mark this special anniversary, the Friends will welcome back the Driffield Silver Band, whose performances have become a much-loved part of the event. As the reigning North of England Area Champions, the band promises a programme of favourites, patriotic classics and traditional Proms highlights. Peter Kench, Musical Director, Driffield Silver Band, said: “The audience always creates a wonderful atmosphere at Burton Constable. We’re looking forward to returning for what promises to be a memorable evening.”
The anniversary is also a chance to acknowledge the achievements of the Friends of Burton Constable, a registered charity dedicated to supporting the preservation of Burton Constable Hall and its historic collections. Through a varied programme of fundraising events throughout the year, including quizzes, workshops and social gatherings, the charity has raised thousands of pounds towards conservation projects, heritage initiatives and important acquisitions for the museum.
Jan Ashdown, Secretary of the Friends of Burton Constable, said: “The Proms has grown steadily over the years and remains one of our most enjoyable fundraising events. We’re grateful to everyone who has supported it and helped it reach this milestone.” This year’s concert will once again take place in the Indoor Riding School. Offering plenty of space and shelter, it provides a comfortable venue with excellent acoustics. Guests are invited to bring a picnic, comfortable seating and plenty of patriotic spirit. A licensed bar will also be available throughout the evening.
With uplifting music, enthusiastic sing-alongs, flag-waving favourites and a rousing finale, the 15th Anniversary Last Night of the Proms will be a fitting celebration of a much-loved tradition and the supporters who have helped sustain it over the past fifteen years.
