Latest planning developments in Hull and East Riding
- Application in for key bridleway bridge over Hull to Scarborough Railway Line in Beverley: The planning application for the long-awaited South Beverley Bridleway Bridge is now in. If approved, it will be located to the south of Beverley town centre, adjacent to Minster Way, and offer views of Beverley Minster, besides a new crossing point over the railway for pedestrians and cyclists. The bridge has been prompted by progress on adjacent housing developments, with permission for those having been contingent on the bridleway bridge being created. A feasibility study led to an underpass option being ruled out. A three-span weathering steel bridge deck is proposed that would be 47 metres in length. The multi-million pound bridge will be paid for by East Riding Council and developer contributions to it.
- Alterations proposed at Head of Steam site: Listed building consent has been sought for changes to the Head of Steam bar site in King Street, Hull. Trinity Quarter Hull Ltd want consent to remove the twentieth century shop front, fascia and pilasters, which have deteriorated. In their place would be a new shop front, pilasters and stall riser, while the internal lobby would also be removed and replaced. The property has a Grade II listing due to its origins as part of a row of Georgian era properties. Its shop front proposed for removal is more modern, dating back to the 1980s.
- Former charity shop could be converted into e-sports venue: A vacant retail unit on Newland Avenue, Hull, that used to be an Emmaus charity shop could be getting a new lease of life. Plans have been put forward to convert it into a bar and e-sports leisure venue. It is expected the bar would employ three people, two full-time. Intended operation hours are for between 10am and midnight, Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 11pm on Sundays and bank holidays.
