The Robins haven’t quite been at their best since the loss to Wigan Warriors in the Challenge Cup

Willie Peters has challenged his Hull KR squad to ask more of themselves as individuals as they strive to end the season well.

The Robins’ season has taken a turn in the aftermath of a Challenge Cup final hammering that very few saw coming. Prior to that Wembley date with Wigan Warriors, KR had been on a nine-game winning run and were beginning to replicate the type of form they demonstrated during their 2025 campaign.

Ultimately, the Robins went on to lose against Wakefield Trinity the week after Wembley before picking up wins in scrappy displays against York Knights and Leigh Leopards.

Rovers were then hammered by Leeds Rhinos in a game that provided a firm indication of just how far off the pace at the top of the table they are.

Peters’ side followed that up with a derby win, despite being down on troops, last weekend and the hope is that they can build into a bit of form once more now.

To do that, players need to step up collectively and individually with Oliver Gildart being one of the star men to visibly struggle for form in recent weeks.

The centre isn’t the only man to experience a bit of a dip in form, but he is amongst those Peters will be looking to squeeze a little more out of in the coming weeks.

“Yeah, Gilly is aware of that as well,” Peters said when asked about the centre. “I think after Wembley across the team everyone is probably hurting a little bit, dented confidence a little bit and then you go to Wakefield the week after lose the way we did.

“We want to get more out of every player and every player wants to get more out of themselves.

“If we do that then we’ll put ourselves in a good position this week and that’s the most important thing, but certainly every player, not just Gilly, but every player needs to ask more of themselves.”
