Hull City are expecting to be in a position to appoint a new sporting director in the very near future after the decision to allow Jared Dublin to leave the club.

Dublin’s departure came as a major surprise to supporters when it was announced suddenly on Monday afternoon, after a disagreement over the American’s salary increase.

The Tigers cannot afford to lose any time in appointing his successor, with the club already playing catch-up when it comes to recruitment and preparing for life in the Premier League.

City are in talks with Okan Ozkan over replacing Dublin, the former Stoke City head of recruitment who joined the club in August 2024 and spent less than two years at the MKM Stadium.

Ozkan spent seven years at Fenerbahce, with the last couple coming as the club’s assistant sporting director, before leaving Istanbul to work with Pogon Szczecin in Poland last season.

It’s expected that a deal to bring Ozkan could be concluded imminently after his former club, PogoĊ„ Szczecin, confirmed his exit, with City looking to make their first outfield signings of the summer, after the arrival of goalkeeper Jack Butland last week.
