Fran Taylor and Carris Kirby said it was a ‘once in a lifetime opportunity’

Two colleagues from Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital have taken fundraising to new heights. They completed a daring skydiving challenge in support of a local charity.

Fran Taylor and Carris Kirby joined forces to raise funds for Cash for Kids. With the support and commitment of colleagues across the hospital, they successfully raised £2,149.80.

The total was achieved through a series of fundraising activities, including a static bike challenge cycling over 150 miles; a charity car wash and a bake sale, before culminating in the ultimate challenge – leaping 15,000ft from a plane in a skydiving experience that pushed the pair well beyond their comfort zones. All these endeavours were in aid of Cash for Kids to help it continue its work in helping numerous families in Hull, the East Riding and surrounding areas.

Speaking about the challenge, Fran and Carris said: “Committing ourselves and completing the skydive was both terrifying and amazingly rewarding. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and the fact we’ve accomplished this while representing our hospital for such an amazing charity, we’re just so proud of our accomplishment.

“We’re also so grateful for the generous support and donations given by our colleagues, friends and family.” Sarah Dickinson, hospital director at Spire Hull and East Riding, said: “We are incredibly proud of both Fran and Carris for taking on such a brave challenge to support a fantastic local charity.

“This achievement reflects the strong sense of community and compassion within our hospital. Raising over £2,000 is a brilliant accomplishment, and these funds will make a real difference to children and families in our area.”
