Hull Tap is set to open in Paragon Station

Plans for Hull’s railway station pub have moved closer as a licensing application has now been submitted to Hull City Council. Earlier this year, the authority received a planning application for ‘Hull Tap’ signage to be put up in the station.
In 2025, it was announced the former ticket office in Hull Paragon Interchange was set to be transformed into a pub. Around a year later, the plans were finally submitted to the council, marking a crucial moment in the idea coming to fruition.
The plans were been submitted by Thornbridge & Co who have a number of pubs across the country. The brewery runs The Market Cat in York, The Bankers Cat in Leeds, and The Colmore in Birmingham, among others.
Following this, a licensing application has now been launched. It seeks permission to sell alcohol seven days a week.
The potential opening times detailed in the application are as follows:
- Monday-Saturday: 09:00 – 00:30
- Sunday: 10:00 – 23:30

Part of the soon-to-be Hull Tap site was previously occupied by WHSmith. The store has now moved to a different unit in the station and can now be found next to both Costa and Starbucks on the opposite side of terminal.
Hull Tap is expected to serve food and drinks. Plans also show two pool tables could be included inside the bar.
In 2025, the council announced it would give out a £315,000 grant to help bring the space back to life. At the time, portfolio holder for regeneration, Cllr Paul Drake-Davis, said: “These awards are another great example of the potential that the city centre grant scheme can unlock. The former ticket office has stood vacant for many years, almost a decade, so it is pleasing that a large unit will be occupied thanks to grant funding.”
Anyone who wishes to oppose or comment on the licensing application must write to the council’s licensing section no later than July 2.
