Sezer was dropped by Andy Last last week on the back of his poor form
Aidan Sezer’s long-term future at Hull FC is considered to be in doubt, Hull Live understands.
The Blacks and Whites’ club captain is contracted for next season after penning an extension to his deal at the MKM Stadium in September 2025.
However, it is understood that Hull are assessing their half-back options at present and it appears likely that Sezer will not be with FC next year.
It comes following what has been a poor season for the skipper so far, with Sezer being dropped from Andy Last’s squad last week on the back of some difficult form.
As it stands, his spot in the side to play Warrington Wolves next week is far from guaranteed as well, with Jake Arthur set to take on the lead chief creative reins once more, as he did at Leigh Leopards on Friday night.
Sezer was supposed to be at the Leigh Sports Village on Friday night with the other Hull players who were not involved in the game. However, the skipper was not in attendance and pictures have since surfaced online to suggest the former Leeds Rhinos and Huddersfield Giants man was actually at Headingley to watch his former sides go head to head. Those images have not been verified but they certainly have not gone down well within the FC camp.
What role the Australian has at the club for the remainder of the season remains unknown at this point, but with the signing of Bailey Hodgson in the bag for next year, it seems incoming head coach Steve McNamara and the FC hierarchy are planning for a spine without Sezer.
Joining the club from NRL side Wests Tigers, Sezer has been with Hull since the start of the 2025 Super League campaign.
The half-back enjoyed a fine start to his FC career, catching the eye and helping John Cartwright’s side start quickly in Super League. His performances wavered as the season progressed but he still managed to register 23 try assists throughout the campaign.
Form has been harder to come by for the 34-year-old, who turns 35 next month, this time around though and after losing his spot in the side, his future at the club is unclear.
