A sea of black and amber was the sight that greeted victorious players from Saturday’s Wembley win when they stepped out on Hull City Hall’s balcony.

The cheering, flag-waving crowds were out in force, despite the record-breaking temperatures, to show and to vocalise their support for the Tigers. Hull City came out on top in their clash with Middlesbrough, a game dogged with uncertainty because of the preceding “Spygate” drama involving Southampton, and secured their place back in the Premier League next season.

Fans who made the long journey from Hull and beyond to the Championship play-off final; those who were at home and watching on TV, those who maybe missed the whole spectacle because of other commitments, were all crammed into Queen Victoria Square for the special reception for the players. You can see how Hull Live’s Donna Clifford captured all the best moments in the photo gallery below.
