Andy Robertson and Harry Maguire have congratulated Hull City after the Tigers won promotion to the Premier League

Former Hull City duo Andy Robertson and Harry Maguire have sent a message to their old club after promotion to the Premier League was secured.

The Tigers won promotion to the top flight after a 1-0 defeat of Middlesbrough in the Championship play-off final.

Oli McBurnie scored the winning goal for Hull in stoppage time at Wembley Stadium to see Sergej Jakirovic’s side back into the Premier League after a nine-year absence.

Hull will now spend the summer preparing for a return to the Premier League, which will include a pre-season campaign and an expectedly busy transfer window.

Robertson and Maguire both spent time at Hull before their departures. Robertson moved to Liverpool in 2017 following the Tigers’ relegation from the Premier League, while Maguire joined Leicester City in the same transfer window.

The duo have now taken to social media to offer their congratulations to Hull following their return to the top flight.

Robertson wrote on his Instagram story: “So happy for everyone connected to the club. Enjoy your night, Tigers,” followed by a raised hands emoji and a red love heart emoji.

Maguire also took to Instagram to post a photo of a tablet which had Hull’s win over Middlesbrough being broadcast.

This was accompanied by the caption, “Up the Tigers,” followed by a tiger emoji and a heart eyes face emoji.

Jakirovic spoke after the famous win at Wembley about the emotions he and the rest of the Hull players and staff were feeling after securing promotion to the Premier League.

“The emotions are very high, there was a lot of players crying,” the Hull boss said.

“This is unbelievable. I don’t think we are aware yet of what we have achieved today or this season, it has been an unbelievable journey.

“There were so many problems that we overcame and everything we achieved is unbelievable, I am so proud of everyone within the club, especially all the players.

“They proved on the pitch they can play good entertaining football this season.”
